2. Dr Li Wenliang is dead because Chinese officials prevented him from triggering protocols on the 30th of December to contain the virus.
3. We have very good data now that we are not depending on the Chinese to tell us. The virus is deadly almost exclusively to people older than 70 and smokers. Almost everyone else will survive. [thefederalist.com]

@TimTuolomne Thank you. This is most informative. I have to say, however, that the article from virological seems inconclusive. I was all set to discount a deliberate release when I read the conclusion:

Although genomic evidence does not support the idea that SARS-CoV-2 is a laboratory construct, it is currently impossible to prove or disprove the other theories of its origin described here, and it is unclear whether future data will help resolve this issue.

In other words it was probably not created or modified in a lab, but it still could have been (accidentally or deliberately) released from one.

Nevertheless I’m tempted now to lean more toward blaming incompetence rather than intent.

@TimTuolomne Well... Dr. Li’s statement was clearly coerced. The fact is, the CCP is a treacherous and ruthless regime. They are not to be trusted. Even if this outbreak was accidental the CCP is still benefiting from it. Indeed they have deliberately fostered the spread of the disease through lies and deceit. Or by silence and suppression.

@GaryWitt I agree that the Chinese are at fault, but not that this event will benefit them. That is why they are trying to fix blame elsewhere. Not a smart tactic either. The World can see the truth for itself, so blaming the US will only benefit the US. Yes they are ruthless liars. And the Democrats seem to be siding with them. Remind all Americans of Democrats duplicity at the expense of the American people.
