How exactly is diversity a strength?
I love this take from British cultural critic Theodore Dalrymple in his book, Spoilt Rotten.
If you ask a multiculturalist what, for example, Somalis have brought to a country like Britain he is likely to remain silent. He can hardly suggest that it is their political tradition (which is what caused them to flee Somalia in the first place) that he values; he knows nothing of their literature, or even if there is any; of their art and architecture he will likewise know nothing; he will be vaguely aware that the Somali contribution to modern science is nil; he has not examined their customs, many of which he would probably find repellent if he did examine them; and he will probably be unable even to name a single traditional Somali dish, an unusual degree of ignorance and indifference even for a multiculturalist.

Great point. She also grew up in Saudi Arabia and Kenya. To Dalrymple’s point, do you see something uniquely Somali that’s moving the west forward?
@shj648 Agree 100%. But Dalrymple isn’t suggesting a ban, he’s asking a simple question: if diversity is a strength, what particular attributes does Somali culture bring to Britain, or Canada or the USA? It’s the same question asked by Douglas Murray, and many others. No one seems able to provide a specific answer on how the western, liberal-democratic world is stronger because of diversity.
@GeeMac But Ayaan's existence prove that not all somalis get along with their islamist culture, if we can import more people like her into our society, they will form our strongest shield versus the regressive left.
Nothing hurt the far-left's narrative more when those so called "oppressed minorities" speak up agains them.
