I have been seeing a lot of stories about how the death of one lousy general from Iran has generated massive shows of pro American/Trump support in islamic dominated countries. This makes me think of several things from history, you know that thing if you ignore and forget you doom yourself (and the rest of us) to repeating? The first thing that came to mind...

Fake news is fake news, unless it makes Trump look good. Suddenly the fake news media is beyond reproach and those who question it are clearly heretics.

I am certain most remember when Trump was campaigning the screen shots, and stories about craigslist ads looking to hire anti Trump protesters for 10-15 dollars an hour. Of course everyone knew it was Soros funding this. Well the CIA has millions upon millions of unaccounted for dollars they use for manipulating people in other countries to give the American corporate interests what they want. Chile back in 1973. Back then the United States preferred exporting brutal dictators rather than democracy. In fact this country rather despised democracy in other countries. So the CIA went down and spent Lord only knows how much of their drug running money to pay truckers in Chile to park their trucks on the side of the road letting the foods and other products that would, rot in the sun in "protest" against the duly elected Salvadore Allende. That's just one example though, they spent tons of money to convince military officers to incite a palace coup. And this is just one example of a long string of instances where the Untied States undermined democracies and other forms of government around the world.

One thing about this bit of how killing one general has created such wide spread love for Trump, and the Untied States that just does not add up when placed under a light of reason. Why is it so believable that killing one man garners such unquestionable support for this country interveneing with the unspoken assumption that these peole will want us intervening in their country for the next 100 years or so, yet the idea that this country installing a brutal dictator that killed millions of his own people is not sufficient reason for the people of that country to hate the Untied States, it has to be for some inexplicable reason such as they hate us for our freedom? To suggest the actions of our federal government created negative reactions against this country, and it's citizens is an intolerable heresy itself.

In all the conversation with either party there is the never fail go to demand that "Our evil is better than their evil so you should vote for our evil because you have nothing else you can do" argument. It comes in a variety of ways but amounts to the same idea that if we keep voting for one evil or the other then things will magically get better.
