The first thing to remember is that advertising does not sell us anything until it has first caused discontent. A person who knows who they are and is content to be that person is truly free.

I like the idea of making people skeptical. Why are you selling me this? What's the underlying message to the movie? Are you hiding important information from me?
Further, when you discover that the person is trying to play you, you unplug. You dispose of that connection. Those people that were playing with you are bad actors and should be removed from impacting the choices you make in your life.
What's missing for me is the need to stress that we are not victims. We do exercise choices. And, ultimately, the person we need to unplug from is our baser selves.
