It was the end of a long day fighting to pass the ACA. Rahm and Barack lounged in the Oval Office discussing the final details of their strategy. Contrary to public appearances, Rahm was trying to convince Barack to leverage his grassroots movement, Obama for America (OFA)--not only to ensure passage of the bill, but to maintain momentum through the midterm elections.
Obama cut him off. "Rahm, there's something about me that you don't know. That stuff about 'palling around with terrorists' was all true. In my community organizing days, I linked up with Ayers and he showed me how the real power works in this country. SDS never fizzled out. In the years since, all of its members have had children and exponentially increased its size."
"What I'm saying is that I have in my possession an army of over 8,000 covert operatives. OFA is unnecessary. We have enough Congressional votes for the ACA and we can lose elections for generations for all I care.
