When it comes to political correctness and authoritarianism, do you ever wonder how much of it is due more to personal empire-building, either within a local community or a workplace, than ideology.
There are so many people out there who have to interfer, stamp their authority on everything and micromanage the world around them without having any real awareness of or belief in a specific political ideology. Busy-bodies both in the neighbourhood and workplace have probably been around longer than political correctness.

I think 20% of the population are the wicked who are always at work trying to rule over and enslave their neighbors. The love of money, easy money, other folks money is the motive. Control over the public’s treasury and the laws of a nation is the easiest route to all things they desire.
I also think blaming both sides of the political spectrum is a cop out. The left is the home of these folks. The moderate Republicans are in fact the moderates of the current Democrat party. They have voted with the Democrats now for the last 8 years. The 150 or so conservative Republicans, the freedom caucus types are the good guys in all this. That seems to deep though for your average voter to comprehend.
