American media is the problem.
They seem bent on creating a race war, taking our guns, pushing socialism, inciting riots, dividing Americans into warring factions.
Media gives school shooters their 15 minutes of fame, so they can increase ratings when copycats perpetuate the carnage, and then they push gun control.
Someone kills a bunch of people, so they politicize and push gun control instead of asking why ?
Media executives and top talent are related to top government officials. The left has paid rabble rousers traveling around the country spreading hate.
If it’s Christian, they hate it. If it’s against the teachings of the Bible, they are all for it.
Islam is supported, in spite of their backward, violent, sexist, bigotry, that is the essence of what the left hates.
In spite of the explicit conflict, Radical feminists and radical Islamists are polar opposites and yet somehow, both supported by the left and media.

If it’s good for America, they tear it down.
If it’s about traditional marriage and family, they attack the very fabric of society that enables families to rise and improve their lot each generation.

They ignore anything good and positive and constructive.
They feed our fears with nightly murders, extortion, war, falling bridges and hurricanes and tornado’s and floods.
Rapists and child molesters grace our screens every night, making people afraid of people. Media champions the open border, that is the source of so much of the carnage and corruption.
Satan has control of media and our government, and he’s having a field day.
Everything Democratic is painted in Rosie colors. The Extreme left has a friends in worldly high places.
Republicans are portrayed as evil, corrupt, bigoted, sexist..
Democrats elected a Chicago neighborhood organizer with no credentials or experience. Media turned a blind eye to his treasonous, ANTI-American activities. And now, we have a 27 year old idiot in congress elected by the Islamists Obama imported to undermine our country from within.
America voted for a billionaire who had nothing to gain, because he wasn’t a lawyer/ politician. He has already accomplished more than Obama.
His accomplishments are presented in a negative light or ignored, while they spare no effort finding fault and making him look like a buffoon.
Media plays on our fears and our ignorance. We as a people are far more congenial than media wants us to think. They exaggerate EVERYTHING, for profit.
All we hear about are the Extremists in BOTH parties.
Most of them are sociopaths.
Moderates either can’t get elected or don’t scream loud enough to be picked up by yellow rag, muck raking media.

Emotional pandering is a tried and true tactic of both politics and advertising. It’s the odd marriage of the two that is the root cause of this type of misrepresentation.

Politics has become a spectator’s sport in many ways. “Points” for humiliating and or defaming your “opponent” have replaced sound policy discussion and thoughtful disagreement. The advertisers and corporate interests have helped turn opposing thoughts into opposing teams and thus created enemies out of everyone that isn’t on your “team”

The ‘right” is generally more reactionary than the “left” in that the modern progressives are always seeking to move the ball and are willing to do so using whatever tactic seems to work. For decades now the left used moral degradation and impugning of character of all opposition to advance their agenda.

The more conservative view has attempted, usually unsuccessfully, to hold them at bay using better arguments and reasoning. But there’s been a marked shift in strategy since the rise of the internet. Expose them (the far left) and attempt to utterly destroy their faulty reasoning.

Hence all the X destroys Y nonsense. It’s the western front of the culture war. And yes, much like a fish, I often take the bait.

" Click bait" Is one of the most overused tactics to try & ensure a reasonable rate of traffic to an article or video. Its certainly a reliable means to motivate views . As you correctly pointed out . Generally to the viewers disapointment .

I'm learning more and more to resist the urge. The juice is generally not worth the squeeze.

I have noticed this tactic on both the right and the left and I think it's petty and boorish. But expected these days in the current "oneupmanship" style of "News" reporting.

Ben Shapiro [amazon.com] is the first thing that comes to mind. I first started noticing this sort of thing around the time Trump was elected. The style of political coverage perhaps can be traced to "Crossfire" on CNN. [en.wikipedia.org] Like with Trump's nativist politics, there is a Pat Buchanan connection.

I try to avoid it myself, but it's hard to call it "lazy" because it works on a lot of people. I would characterize it as a bad faith political or propaganda tactic.
