At another place I know a poster who must have recently learned about Socrates. She wound up being assigned the name The Vortex because of her constant leading questions trying to get you to contradict or disprove your on ideas. It fun to watch her get a hold on a new victim because she's pretty good at it if her victim is trying to honestly engage, but just like with Socrates, most people wound up eventually wanting her dead.

@govols I find myself doing the same thing, but not not make the person feel as though they are stupid or that their thoughts don't matter, but to help them make the decision on their own to look at a situation from a different angle. Although I try being as subtle as possible

So I guess in my limited understanding of it is; are we more disposed to sharing who we truly are, are we less disposed to sharing who we truly are, or a combination of both where we try to work out our issues in comparitive safety of perceived anonymity, lol.....ok I have a headache now!

@purdyday pertaining to the text vs voice call comment, I would think the akward silence occuring when ones asked questions or when they want the call to be over, but don't know how to bring it to an end. once text messaging became a thing. it made social skills almost non exsistent. with the convenience of being able to pick and choose when to respond, to short simple conversations... makes people resort to using default responses when interacting in public.
Very benefical for the psychic community, they've almost been able to cut their tarot card decks all the way down to just a few cards

That is an undeniable incentive for some, but not everyone who joins a social media site is a part of the 'woke' culture. And there is no harm is pointing out potentially malicious behavior exhibited by some of those users either, to those engaging in good faith for the sake of honest debate

I’m in a discussion at the moment where the poster asked for advice concerning a paper on a VAT tax. I listed my reasoning for thinking it was a bad idea, and apparently it was insulting for me to disagree as the last statement claimed I “just want to argue”.
I have no problem with this type it f trolling, because anyone with a basic sense of third grade debate tactics can see that the person is pouting because I didn’t embrace their unicorn with open arms.
I believe these exchanges are very beneficial for the “audience” in exposing lofty poorly thought out ideas promulgated as “fix all’s” for perceived “injustice”.

I live for the troll. Until they become abusive, then I walk.
Those who stay on for the browbeating don’t garner much sympathy from me.
If you feel someone is being abusive, walk on.

@Cheetolini I alot of times will argue against my personal views in an attempt to both challenge the solidness, while also showing that tey cannot assume for example, that a person isnt able to be bothe pro-gun and pro-choice. Also if possible make an example showing that there usually more than just the 2 options we are present to us when discussion takes place on certain issues

Indeed. I’m pro choice (politically, not personally) for the same reason I’m anti forced vaccination. Either the human body is sovereign or it’s not.
I reserve the right to call abortion barbaric disregard for human life, but I’m not going to force anyone else at the point of a gun (law) not to get one.
It is not necessary to compromise principles for a team pennant.
I don’t consider my principles in any form hypocritical. For it is someone else’s preconceived notions of what I should believe that are in question, not my principle.
What I find disturbing is the hypocrisy of principle. Watching those in the left give up basic pillars of “liberalism” for this new religion called “Progressivism”.
The belief that my skin color makes me an oppressor (immoral connotation), that the bedroom isn’t private but rather a portion of my identity that must be worn on my sleeve to garner sympathy and status points, that self preservation of one’s own life is the duty and sole right of the authority of government entities, that responsibility for correcting one’s bad choices is the commons and should be paid for by the rich, that responsibility for one’s own health should be paid for by the collective .......

I’m still a liberal. Liberalism is no longer liberal. They changed the definition, but then, that’s what the leftist “revolutionary” does. Change the meaning of words to sell what they otherwise couldn’t.
Put the word “Democratic” in front of socialism, so people don’t understand it is forced government control of the means of production and distribution. Add a unicorn, a rainbow, and a crapload of fluffy three word buzz phrases, and they will think it’s something new.
