It is always amusing watching a social justice warrior define what the right “thinks”.
If you notice, he describes what the left believes in broad detailed principles, yet paints the rights positions stemming from intolerance of change and fear.
Fear and hate, hate and fear. The left’s go to for the rights purpose in all instances.
Piss Christ.
The argument was over whether the government could require citizens to fund religiously insulting art through the NEA.
The part of the first amendment the left always leaves out is “....or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”
Forcing someone to violate their religion at the point of a gun (taxes/law) is a violation of the first amendment. It prohibits the free exercise of their religion.
It’s not such an easy subject when you take ‘intolerant bad righties’ out of the equation and tell the true arguments for and against.
I have no problem with piss Christ being in an art exhibit, museum, show, or gallery.
I’m offended if I am forced to pay for it’s security, storage, and presentation.
If the left truly understood the classical liberal position, they would know that not allowing religion into government is only possible if you also don’t allow government into religion.
