NOTE: I can only think of two women, off hand, that are widely considered as gods among MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way), and Mrs. Rand is one of them.
At the outset, I’d like to note that she was the most religious atheist that I can think of as well. Although she’d likely not’ve like it being said about her.
It’s actually how Christian her beliefs were/are for a person that disagreed with faith in all respects that’s interesting. I don’t think she ever addressed a situation of going beyond the need for blind faith – not to discredit it (faith) in any way. She also disagreed with man’s acceptance of there being any entity above man in the entire universe. MGTOW is about the self-validation of ones own life & going their own way self-validated - “to thin own self be true” – as it were.
Shakespeare actually summed up her view as to how man should live his life nicely ( I think) in Act 1, Scene III of the famous play, Hamlet, when Polonius says: “This above all: to thine own self be true”
If it sounds like I’m stumbling it’s likely because this post was initially intended to be about ‘altruism’ until I actually did stumble upon this excellent interview and couldn’t resist posting it.
