Openness and gregariousness is correlated with low conscientiousness and that relationship holds regardless of intelligence. Civilization requires a form of artificial eusocialism which in turn requires conscientiousness. Intelligence is just a necessary but insufficient condition for being in a position of authority. What causes a lot of confusion is that sociability and empathy are confused with being pro social. Being pro social is just a stand in for eusocialism. The popular girl in high school is probably not going to be able to translate those people skills into a productive workplace environment for example.
So while there is an aspect of simply undermining existing norms to gain control over society you will find that the new world order is just as chaotic as it appears. The people behind the scene are not evil geniuses so much as just the wrong personality types for positions of authority. Leadership has become detached from meritocracy as has ethics.
Everybody is going to have a different idea of merit but being transgender should be easy to agree on as not a criteria of merit. Those low in conscientiousness however are likely to see merit according to the monkey world view. Fast lifestyle, equality as a measure of merit, networking skills over productivity, a preference for easy but unstable environments, sociability over pro sociality, aesthetics over pragmatism, people before things, nature thru rose colored glasses, cults instead of religions, appearance as a measure of an individuals worth, vices of all types in conflict with virtues, a preference for impersonal authoritarianism over freedom, are a few of the associated personality characteristics.
