Sounds like whoever wrote this doesn’t know the same people I know. Most people I know who could be classed as “preppers” not only have guns ans ammo and self defense skills also have amazing amounts of equipment and supplies that require the skills to defend them. Along with the long shelf life foods, they have water filtration and purification supplies, skills in raising fruits and vegetables, fruit tree propagation skills, hunting/trapping skills/practice, building skills, mechanical skills, engineering skills, off-grid property where they currently practice all these things, etc...

I have many of these skills and a list of others that have skills and supplies I don’t have. I’ve been teaching my sons-in-law and daughters the skills in which they show interest and am currently looking for cheap land to set up for them to practice on a larger scale (and to be able to retreat to if necessary).

Fortunately, God has not only given me many of these skills, but plenty of opportunities to practice them. Most recently, Michael (a cat 5 hurricane 3 years ago) left our city without power, water, communications, refuse disposal, etc... for almost 2 months. We not only survived, but were able to help our community to thrive. The hurricane knocked over a lot of trees and houses etc, but surprisingly enough, some of my trees still had fruit (wrong time to harvest nuts). We still have left over MREs we didn’t need to use in those months.

We were the hub of our neighborhood’s survival and reconstitution efforts. We started by making sure everybody was safe and had safe place to live and plenty of water. We fed everybody around us regularly under the shade of our pop-up gazebos and served as a center of information when they came to eat. My daughter and I built (out of debris) an out-door shower and rigged up plumbing to our well. People were able to use that same well water (and water from a pool) to flush toilets and boil for potable water. After a week of us doing all the cooking and sharing, we coordinated for others to take turns grilling most of the foods in the neighborhood before it spoiled and shared it with all who wanted it. Nobody went hungry. We collected and distributed cleaning supplies and coordinated refuse removal to keep disease causing vectors from massing in the neighborhood. As services returned, we retreated to our own reconstitution efforts and have done nearly $100k of repairs on our own house, since we found contractors to be unreliable or incompetent. We still make ourselves available to neighbors for advice or help when they need it, but for the most part our neighbors take care of themselves we all mind our own business.

I think you’d be surprised how many people out there are capable and willing to handle whatever God gives them to handle. We simply don’t push it on others.

BTW, after one minor incident of looting one night, I posted signs around the neighborhood stating, “this area protected by well-trained gun owners - loot at your own risk”. We never again noticed any lawlessness of any type. It helps that our neighborhood is over half military or retired military or cops. Also, the governor declared/authorized for everybody in the effected areas automatic concealed-carry and open-carry and he stated that looting would not be tolerated. As far as I can remember, not a single shot needed to be fired in the state.

Modern farming can support 10 people/Hectare. They need a much bigger garden.

When the thugs in Portland declared an autonomous zone, they started farming the park so they could sustain themselves. Dumb. The park can't produce nearly enough food to sustain the zone, and a simple calculation proves it.

We should have walled in the autonomous zone and denied it food. Also turn off the sewage system.

Well, you might be far enough outside of Tacoma to allow for that attitude. But you should appreciate all your neighbors to the north that will be tasked with keeping the urbanites in place. The city folk's moral perspective may fail when you have food and they don't.
