So, its blog post three here, I have like I said before been reading “Letters From A Stoic” (Seneca) in these, he writes “So you’re giving me advice, are you?... Have You already given yourself advice, then? Is that how you have time to reform other people?” I love his directness here he goes on to say “No, I’m not so shameless as to go on treating people when I’m sick myself. I’m talking to you as if I’m lying in the same hospital ward as you…” As he writes to his reader so too shall I write to mine, as a work in progress and to things and of people that are of the same passions.
It’s hard for people to live by their own standard this is the conflict between the ID and Superego, the idea of who we are vs our baser instincts, our higher self battling the desires whatever they may be. It takes as I found discipline and a whole host of mechanism to battle the ID sadly it’s a battle that never end. So in a manner we ill will forever be ill and that’s the point, no matter how much wisdom we gather we will always be battling the same old self and dragging it up to a higher level. So, it was in AD(CE) 16 so it is now AD(CE) 2021, so long as there is a will to power their will be the perishing of leave. (Nietzsche) the self must overcome the self-time and again across all men should thus sadly the superman is forever unattainable if I understand that correctly, that I believe (again) is the point. If nothing else the self over coming at worst just something to do that is worthwhile. The betterment of the self through Art and Literature is a noble endeavour, from experience it’s very hard.
Were all born indifferent, all of us hurled into an imperfect universe and expected to carve out an existence. We do not need fling mud at each other the way. (Thank you Martin Heidegger)

Dude, what did you mean by "so long as there is a will to power their will be the perishing of leave. "? Intriguing sentence. I would suggest you put down the Nietzsche for a while too mate. If you are prone to depression he's only going to poor fuel on it. Get yourself some books on Buddhism dude. It's like Stoics on steroids!

Read some Ayn Rand if you want to know about the importance of living by your own standards.
Bowing in to peer pressure and living by other people's standards is how facist/communist regimes get a strangle hold of society and keep it there.
If you know something is wrong or right, don't let anyone sway you otherwise.
Speak your mind, be yourself and lead by example, but never go into anything thinking you'll 'convert' someone to your ways. Like the old saying goes "You can lead a horse to water...

@T35-C I heard something almost identical in a punk song - "the war within is the only one worth fighting"

@T35-C These things you are "fighting" are more you than your conscious self. You can't fight them. They will always win. You end up on a perpetual cycle of small victories, then crushing defeats as this deeper more primal self demands expression. How long you been fighting these things? Look back at the wreckage this war has created in your life. Do it as honestly as you can. Also, "fighting" it gives it attention. Neuroplasticity dictates that the more you think on something, the more you think on something. You actually strengthen the thing you are fighting as you are fighting it.

Instead, you need to reprogram your "ego-story". Your emotions are an operant conditioning system. They are signals of how you are going on achieving the goals of your story. They are what make you do stuff, which is why they are called e-motions.They "move" you literally. Their master guide is your ego-story, the blueprint for your life. If you wish to effect real change in your life, you need to change this story.

In Vajrayana Buddhism they teach mental practices for doing this. They teach to follow your pain. It helps if you have practiced mindfulness meditation before (and during), but what you try to do is when you experience a painful emotion, stop right there. Let it become your signal to become more mindful. Then instead of trying to avoid it, try to feel it as deeply as you can. Where in your body do you feel it? What is it truly deeply like to feel this way. The first thing you notice is they're harmless. As unpleasant as the sensations might be, no damage is actually being done. You're going to be fine.

The next thing you'll notice is that by moving towards them instead of away, they don't hurt so much anymore. Then soon, at all. As you sit and wallow in that emotion, memories or thoughts will begin to arise. It is now you ask it the question, "why are you?" You will receive the answer, and know it when you see it. It will be a belief about the world, or yourself, or other people and the emotion will also show you the why of it whether that is a trauma from childhood, a stupid rule you thought was cool when you were younger and never thought to question before. Or it will be a core value that you still hold dear, in which case the emotion you are feeling is entirely appropriate and you can relax about it and deal with whatever has caused it.

Once in this state and you've seen the cause of the emotion, it has become conscious now. You can decide then and there that it is silly and it will be gone from you for good. The problem then becomes what are you going to decide to align yourself to? Choose wrongly and you could make matters worse. This is where a religious framework comes in handy. They are mythological frameworks upon which to base your blueprint for a healthier self. I find the Buddhist 5 precepts to be the best moral framework, but for mythological framework you can't go past the Jesus man. You don't need to believe in any of the hocus pocus, hell, I don't even believe that Jesus was a historical figure, but for the blueprint of the ideal man? Who TF else could it be? Sorry dude for text walling you. lol You kinda started it though. 😉

@T35-C Shit dude, I should have asked you before I advised that whether you suffer from anxiety? If so, please let me know. You'll need to deal with that first.

@T35-C Ahh. The delusion of control. That old bugbear. Who or what is in control dude? The thinker is also a thought.

Philosophy is bunk.

@T35-C Dude I think that was the point. He was triggering a cognition cascade for you. Sqeptiq is a cunning bugger. He's not your average mouse. I think he may be a hyper-intelligent, pan-dimensional being and he's experimenting on us, but I might be wrong.
