Victoria, BC police have been ordered to remove the “blue lines” from their uniforms after complaints that it’s “offensive” and “anti-inclusive”.
The “thin blue line” has always represented how rule of law is the tenuous border between order and chaos; but woke criminology prof Rob Gordon says it represents an “us against them mentality”.

As I understand it, here is the states that blue line is worn especially in remembrance of those officers who have been injured or killed in the line of duty. But I suppose it also is worn in support of the police in general. How that could be seen as offensive is beyond me.

@pbuck0145 True. We have a hard left, woke Prime Minister who constantly goes on about Canada’s “racist” past and “racist” power structure. Canada does not have the strong free speech protections enjoyed by Americans. Canadians can get in trouble not for inciting violence, but just for making some group feel bad.
I still don't understand how the thin blue line became a widely agreed on symbol for hate. Sure, fringe groups here and there blathered on about this that and another thing is now racist. I find it more concerning that they are considered "voices of reason", and there appears to be so little communication between the individual who displays the symbol and the one pointing the racist finger.
Beyond all that is this smug sense of accomplishment that these so called justice warriors radiate after they've triumphantly righted another egregious wrong. The 5 minute videos, sponsored by MTV etc, with fresh faced college kids educating me how "blue lives matter" is not a real cause. They smile, prattle on, and conclude on an upbeat tie up that sums up their opinion (oh. whoops. I mean "fact" )
More troubling is that these ideas don't just appear out of thin air. They're carefully planted among the masses and have led to polarizing views spread straight through world wide governments and MSM. What may have started as a genuine place of good intentions, has been spoiled on the clout of overly offended youth who have no idea what they are even fighting for. Honestly, I have a lot of pity for those that mean well and a lot of contempt for the profiteers who know full well what they are doing is wrong.
"Empowering those who degrade other human beings is a dangerous path to embark upon. If we take symbols that have supported our humanity, our selfless service of others, and abolish them because they are misrepresented far beyond their original purpose, who are we protecting?"

Victoria is rapidly turning into Portland North. I do get great pleasure, however, knowing their hard-left mayor Lisa Helps (who delighted in tearing down the Sir John A Macdonald statue outside city hall), has to wake up every morning in a town named for the Queen who led the British Empire at its height!
