I keep hearing about USPS sorting machines being removed. It is a true story. What I can't find is why? Other than people blaming POTUS for trying to impede mail in voting. Does anyone know a credible explanation for the machines being removed?

yep - at least 90% of all items rec'd in mailboxes is junk mail. The reason you will NEVER see an end to junk mail in your box is because without it the service would cease to exist.
The inserts and offers you used to get inside your morning and evening news papers? Now come to your mail box...so I can't help wondering how Print News Papers Boston Glove, NY Times, WAPO...Kansas City Star...how do they stay in business when the Post office has more or less monopolized their former major revenue sources.
Again, technology is changing the way things work. This isn't so much a Trump change but the ways of the world - why spend on outdated or under utilized systems. Being an election year and with the contentious mail in ballot issue the whole matter has become politicized and propaganda fodder. In a normal year this would hardly be a blip on the radar.
