Yeah i mean i have my opinions of the book based on conservative reviews just as i am sure she has hers about the likes of Eldar, Owens, etc. but I am not sure how much of their views she has actually engaged with beyond calling it racist, uninformed, race traitor, etc. now obviously ive had experience with those who believe similarly to Diangelo but aside from some if the more extreme quotes conservatives pull from the book I don't know much about it so I am willing to at least see what she has to say. I will still think the quotes I have heard are equally racist but there may be something worth learning in the book. Plus perhaps i will have a better idea as to what makes it so appealing to the common person and not the Ben Shapiros and political commentators who can pick up on the bs. The book is so much longer than the hand picked quotes conservative reviews will point to and if they are surrounded by a bunch of positive fluff the common person will be easy to ignore and/or miss it entirely

Yeah. Like i def figured her as a fairly open minded person. Hell even her signature on email is a quite about speaking your mind even when others may disagree and the number of times i have to bite my tongue when she goes off on, “can you believe how racist so and so comment was” or “damn i can't believe how badly the Trump administration is doing with Covid.” Now, i don't agree with everything Trumps admin is doing but i at least understand why they are making some of the decisions they are making and why some people agree with then because i don’t get wrapped up in the emotion of disgust at the statement and actually listen to what they mean by it. Like “white peopele” and “conservatives” are supposed to listen to everyone else and frankly i think many actually do but why should we when we aren’t even given the same courtesy. I mean i get the “no room for hate” thing but like how can it be hateful if you don’t even take the time to actually get what they mean?

@Joehlert11 Don't be fooled. The left is extremely ignorant about their utterings. Hate is a reactionary involuntary bodily function as every emotion, you can't help it. Plus, the limbic system is smarter than our neocortex, so our bodies are smarter than our consciousness are. Hell, our reptilian brain do the complex math involved in musical appreciation by calculating harmonies, procession melody ratios, etc. before we even notice we are hearing music. Truth be told, we are all wrong; but the current left is being evil by shamelessly using victims to spread their sick ideology and obtain power. I'm personally all sorts of the people they say to represent, and got the artistic kind of personality. I was meant to be a leftist, but they make me sick to my stomach.

@A1fredo oh so am I. Aside from being a Christian (not that that means much anymore either) i would probably be pegged as a supporter of the left. I have a background in education and come from a family of teachers, im disabled and on disability, grew up in a relatively lower middle class area with quite a decent minority population, and worked with inter-city youth organizations. I attended a very conservative Christian college and i could probably count the number of Hilary supporters in 2016 on one, maybe both hands if i included a few faculty, and i was among them if only for the fact i was willing to play devil’s advocate on her behalf (in the end i could not justify voting at all). And frankly it was being around the conservatives and seeing their reactions vs democrats post election that really swayed me to at the very least give Trump a fair shake. Even during the election cycle i think part of it too was both made excuses for the candidates past but i feel Republicans were better willing to admit Trumps past and even disavow it whereas Democrats completely ignored hers when they were unable to make excuses and that still seems to be the case now. But at the end if the day the real thing that got me to change my perspective is being around those who supported Trump. I couldn't ignore them, i had to actually listen to them and argue back and forth with them. It’s a bit sad now seeing many of those people who did help change my perspective singing a different tune now though. I don't know if they REALLY switched and caved to the mob and believe what they are saying because they were told to or if it’s just a front to look woke. I hope it is just a front but they definitely say the things they are with conviction so i don't know. Maybe they just realized if you can't beat them, join them or what.

@Joehlert11 Well, Trump I just a man, one single man. And not quite Superman. There's only so much he can do, even in that position. They probably have unrealistic expectations of him. Especially given its a culture war. The battlefield is people's minds and that's not politicians' specialty. Like Stalin said, "It's more important the engineering of the soul than the building of the tanks". I think it's more up to artists, philosophers, writers, etc. But mostly it's up to the majority. Each one of us need to get involved. The hard part is that people are t comfortable with the emotional side that allows you to lose yourself in situations as if you were in a dream, guided by passion like leftists do. They end up looking stupid, which happens a lot when you're being driven by emotion. But without it, then no action will be carried out, and people will just sit and watch, looking all serious and proper, while their civilization burns down to the ground.
