He never recommended or even suggested the use of disinfectant. He was asking the experts with him whether uv light or disinfectant might work. Big difference.
Of course it’s senseless to think out loud. But it’s dishonest and fraudulent to misrepresent what was actually said.
You are right that it was formed as a question. But that begs a further question. Why did he later say it was sarcasm if he was asking the experts a serious question?
That isn't the only thing they can not discern.

@GeeMac, I know many who can write and speak with perfect grammar, and totally miss the concept at hand.
@TimTuolomne I know some people who use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation and still can't seem to make a salient point in their arguments. LOL
...and still others who can't make a logical or objective argument.
Having said all that I will aver that spelling/grammar Nazis out here on the interwebs are really using it as a deflection. Can't make a good challenging argument so attempt to impugn the other persons intelligence by pointing out their poor communication skills...right? LOL
