It began with Dwight Eisenhower alerting us to the dangers of the Military-Industrial Complex in his farewell address to the nation. We've since amended the title to the more inclusive and appropriate Media-Industrial Complex. This week, Michael Shellenberger coined the phrase "The Censorship Industrial Complex," which brings us to the end game, which is the dismantling of the Constitution and, by extension, the entire American Experiment launched in 1776.

The "dead white men" the "land owners" and "slave holders" who invented this country had just fought a war against government overreach of the highest order, and their creation was a noble effort to keep the new government in check, while permitting maximum freedom for its citizens.

Nothing characterizes the original ideal of America more than the right to speak your mind, without concern for who it might offend. Yet, from the start, those who desired power and control have sought to undermine the safeguards built into our Constitution and Bill of Rights. This week, the Democratic Party formally separated itself from any pretense of honoring that principle. They have, in other words, identified themselves as insurrectionists and domestic terrorists, dedicated to overthrowing our government and bringing an end to this experiment in the notion that government exists to serve the people it governs. They no longer even pay lip service to our heritage and ideals. They seek nothing more than naked power and control over everything you think, do, and say.

I don't know that I agree with everything in the article, it seems a bit hyperbolic but that is what happens when the divide between people becomes unsurpassable.

Blue states and Red states are reminiscent of conditions before the first civil war.  In the culture war the first victim has and was bound to be the truth.  When the truth becomes difficult to ascertain you are forced to fall back on first principles.  What happened before the first civil war was that Lincoln showed a willingness to compromise or reason with the South but they refused and painted him as a tyrant.  It's analogous to the treatment that Trump received, especially the Washington establishment and press.  Both were basically moderates but treated as wild eyed radicals.  Keep in mind that Northern Banks were the primary benefactors of slavery.  The South was not only keeping the Federal budget afloat through tariffs but were under unsustainable debt due to the imports that raised those tariff revenues.  Today we see the same corpocracy at work.  The incestuous relationship between government and corporations.

Lincoln was opposed to slavery on principle but was willing to compromise for the greater good.  Trump was opposed to the military, media, financial sector, industrial complex on principle but was willing to compromise for the greater good.  The wild eyed radicals on both sides, pro or anti slavery, took The Washington establishment has benefited from the financial chaos caused by the decoupling of the financial markets from any tie to productivity.  The profitability of the current financial system is as delusional as slavery.   But people like Mitt Romney and Nancy Pelosi have benefited immensely from the breakdown in the tie between productivity and finance.  Others such as George Soros (the god of chaos) made fortunes exploiting financial opportunities that made making money with no tie to productivity easy.  Both political parties stood by as instant billionaires and their monopolies became dominant players in the culture war.  Helped at every step by corrupt bureaucrats and the government/industrial revolving door.  Meanwhile the vast majority of the public is distracted by principles.  The supposed uncompromisable virtues of socialism or capitalism, neither of which could ever exist except in the imagination.

Hundreds of thousands of people died to end the obvious immorality of slavery.  The Civil War however was never as much about slavery as finance.   Take away the profits on both sides and the "elites" would have found a way to end slavery less violently.  The Southern elites were nearing the point that they couldn't be profitable and deeply in debt to the North, breaking away solved that problem.  The Northern bankers wanted no part of an excuse to not collect their usury, war was better than canceled debts because it would prove highly profitable for them.

People assume that the Civil War was over what the Southern elites called "our peculiar institution" and yes racial prejudice did play a role.  But the vast majority of people in the North were equally prejudiced, even Lincoln.   Today social injustices that still linger play a role in the culture war but it is self-evident that the elites are actually little interested in the victims.  We were well on the way to resolving them before the elites decided to use them as an excuse and means to keep the financial system free from rational ties to productivity.  The breaking up of monopolies and the control over the runaway financial markets.  The reigning in of the incestuous relationship between government and industry.

Of course all of the above is a gross oversimplification.  Principles are important if they are moral principles.  The question becomes what is a moral principle and how does it function in society.

Groups cannot have morality because morality can only be a property of the individual.  Only the individual has freewill from which agency and dignity flows.  Once you pick sides morality goes out the window and group interests take over.  What makes liberal democracy work is that no group can accumulate enough power to impose their will.  It's inefficient and chaotic and appears immoral to anyone who thinks groups can be moral.  What makes liberal democracy work is individuals imposing their morality on groups not the other way around.  In business that means ostracizing those with poor ethics.  In politics it means ostracizing those with poor character.  It also means that for capitalism to work monopolies have to be broken up and corporatism restrained.

To solve our problems I suggest we start by breaking up monopolies and stopping the revolving door between government and industry that leads to incestuous relationships.  That means for example you don't pick Federal Reserve chairmen, FTC commissioners, or the Secretary of the Treasury, etc.  from the industry they are supposed to be watchdogs over.  The same principle applies to all government positions.  You also don't appoint activists or ideologues to anything.  The executive branch must be as non partisan as possible. The radicals will whither away if you take away their fuel.
