Trust your government? Naw! That marks the end of the citizen's vigilance and opens the door to political tyranny.

Well actually you're right about the lifestyle but i think you're missing the part about not trusting the establishment...and from where I sit the establishment is definitely the enemy. I'm not saying all the comforts i have are not due in large part to what has been done under their auspices but these comforts are mere bones tossed to the dogs under the table compared to their true power and intent.
@Geofrank Any gov'mt should be powerful, so long as it is answerable to the citizenry. That control lever is gone if elections are corrupt. Or, if those elected can delegate their authority to someone not answerable -- like DC bureaucrats or WEF. Such delegation is illegal in the US -- but the politicos have not answered for that corruption.
