The argument of why they refused to vote for this resolution may have a grain of truth to it, though it is all the more reason to vote for it while putting in place protections against what they fear will happen.

They denounced the vote as “a useless ploy, saying that Republicans were using anti-socialist rhetoric to pave the wave for cuts in Social Security, Medicare and other social assistance programs.” The grain of truth should be in that “other social assistance programs”. I would be all for safeguard verbiage in their resolution against cutting social security and Medicare since these are insurance the workers and employers pay for. As for the “other social assistance”, that is mostly a euphemism for bribing people to stay home and not work beyond the unemployment insurance limits. This is something that must be cut out and if the resolution greases the skids to slash that from the budget, it’s the first (minuscule) sign of fiscal responsibility I’ve seen in decades.

I wish people had a good grounding on what socialism is. There are ways to privately provide all the services, privileges and handouts that socialism initially promises it will provide but because of its Ponzi nature cannot sustainably do so. They are centrally controlled and managed programs which create large bureaucracies in government. Once established they are impossible to remove because they create dependency but will last only about 3 generations or 90 years before they collapse economically. The dependency, the bureaucracy, the demand for service becomes too great.
The near collapse allows tyranny to sneak in and before you know it someone is dictating who will receive services, who won't and what those services will be. Social security in the US is approaching the 90 year expectancy and the cracks are appearing. Don't worry though,the government has a plan to save it - more socialism. We are headed for a UBI, cashless, CB digital currency system of social credits. Money will be history.
