He could be both. Like so many he went through the academia system where he was groomed to be pro-establishment and pro-liberal or pro-lefty. Then his whole career, whether its research money for “science” or favorable magazine articles is also establishment approved and supported. Hence, he is the establishment guy, bought and paid for. And if he were to go rogue as we have seen in the case of someone like Robert Malone, they would do smear pieces for him, probably evoke any licenses they can, ban access to research facilities, etc. So unless he has balls and is independently wealthy, chances are he will stick to the sugar daddy establishment because it’s his meal ticket. And it tickles his ego.

As for whether he is a true believer or not, I think he is attached to the establishment so much that he generally has avoided being directly challenged about the narrative. He is used to like Sam Harris to talk about religion, many traditional religions because the new religion of weakness has his back or before that it was liberal ideology that establishment adopted. But he did not have to challenge the new religion of the establishment. Neither wokeness nor liberalialism, hence he never really felt the consequences of doing that, but as long as he attacks Christianity, and “non-science” people he gets rewarded by the establishment. If he were to say anything about the new religion, he would quickly found himself in hot water.

This vaccine stuff or woke crap is so obviously insane and corrupt and common knowledge at this point that when the narrative about “vaccines” was questioned, he felt threatened because the establishment, in other words, his meal ticket was questioned. I think on instinctual level, that is what prompted the reaction, similar as with Sam Harris. A true believer yes, but also incredibly vain, the type of person who thinks they are far greater than they are because the establsigment has their back and so far they were only attacking the low hanging fruit that the establishment approves being attacked. Also he is a specialist, like Jordan Peterson. Pretty good at niche area, but in culture wars once they taste fame and feel they can talk to the public and have a following, they cannot resist but to talk about everything else in the world, only to reveal just how niche they really are. I think for example when Peterson talks about specifics that he studied for, about psychology and psychology, he is pretty good in it. Soon as he tries to talk about Ukraine, or Russia, or Isreal or any other of topics he tries to inject himself now as authority.... dear lord.
