@eschatologyguy of course nobody knows what future holds. I maintain the position that nuclear war is not imminent. That kind of talk is designed to manipulate and to scare the hell out of the populous.
Nuclear war is its own deterrence. Everyone knows that it means certain destruction on a scale so large that literally every living soul if he survives the beginning will have nothing but profound suffering for whatever length of time he has before death relieves his misery.
I'm pretty sure Putin and all the rest know this is true. ergo - deterrence.
The knowledge that Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) is a no win fact of the matter is the real force of deterrence.
As you allude it is within the realm of possibility but I do not see it in the realm of probability.

This above has the benefit of hindsight. So we can know and guage its accuracy. My blathering about nuke-maggedon doesn't have that benefit. But its happening. That's why I keep telling people to move to the countryside, away from big cities.

I do not ascribe to "prophecy" like that. I am not a fatalist. I do not believe the future is fixed or that there is such thing as one person for whom a man was meant to marry. I do not believe there is such thing as a persons predetermined time to die.

There is no such thing as destiny. A person can only work and prepare himself so far and in order to give himself the best hedge possible against "bad stuff" that happens - has always happened and will always happen. Drought, Disease, War, Accident, Depression etc. The only way to know if the 20 year look ahead is accurate is to live at least 20 years from now and see if it then comes true. So far I know of no such cases or examples of that phenomena occurring.

As I said before "MAD" is possible - in that realm it could happen at any moment. Or not at all. We cannot know. That information is not available to the mortal man (to take a line from Paul Simon - Slip Slidin' Away)

All I know is that everything in the Universe is in constant motion on a trajectory to who knows where. Eventually everything we see, know, love, fear, desire...will become mere dust in the winds of time. I can hope (and I do) that there is something for us on the other side of this "mortal coil"" (to borrow from Dylan Thomas) and that so much more will be revealed to us. I also hope God is forgiving and merciful because He KNOWS that none of us deserve it - not really.

In my mind God is not nor has He ever been interventionist. If we have nuclear death tomorrow or 20 years from now God has no hand in that.

I like that line of dialog from one of the Terminator movies - "There is no fate but what we make". And I will add that we can never really predict or know what consequence may or may not occur from any decisions - good or bad that we may make today.

Fear Mongering? Reality is frightening! I do hope your view is correct and I am deluded in My fear of the possibilities of a Nuclear Conflict! Unfortunately Nuclear Weapons have already been used in War. Your views that these weapons won't be used is no comfort ?

With all the coke Zelensky is doing - he's a loose cannon. Thankfully he has to rely on the US/EU for weapons, and they have been pushing and pulling him back. If Zelensky was really in charge, things would probably be much worse.
Both sides are bad in their own ways, and both sides have a 'for the greater good' self righteous mentality. But this war isn't really about 2 sides, and more about a globalist struggle of empires.
There is fear mongering on both sides, pushed by the media as usual, meanwhile everyone who isn't the political/industrialist class all over the world will suffer for decisions that they're against.
As far as nuclear war goes: no one really wants to make the first move (well... Zelensky did try and tell the EU that they should make a pre-emptive strike because supposedly the Russians where going to eventually do it - but that's coke psychosis for you ), nuclear weapons have changed over the decades and don't necessarily have a radioactive yield, they also cost a shit ton (both financially and in terms of of the propaganda war)... but hey, we're in an era of retarded shit happening so you never know

@Tom81 I grew up during the cold war. Barely even thought about it as a kid and young man because it seemed to me that the leaders of the west and of Russia were actually rational. They might poke and prod each other and fight their little proxy wars but that's as far as it would go. I no longer think we have rational leaders in power.
