Should I praise the small improvements or criticize the overlooking of larger issues? What do you think.

Although this might be a good idea and may even be good for people who need a boost out of depression, it seems like they could focus on more pressing (universally existential) issues like border security, protection of our constitutional rights through legal repercussions for officials who abuse their authority, the economy, deficit irradiation, rapid debt reduction along with a plan to irradiate debt and to live in the black instead of living in the red, etc…, you know, the main purposes of the federal government. IMO.

Think of the ramifications to what's happening and then try your best at mitigation.

try to not think of pink elephants
Once a seed of prescient urgency is planted there is not a way to stop thinking about it.
I would be interested in hearing about any improvements you can name but we are compelled to keep up the drum beat of disapproval and anger over those "larger issues" you speak of. To ignore them is apathetic tacit approval.

Lots of questions. “Pink elephants?” Are you saying it is impossible to address universally existential issues like border security, tyrannical overreach of authority figures, fixing our fiscal irresponsibility, etc… or are they just not universally existential or is it something else?

Improvements we have made? Over what period of time? Improvements that are enduring and not under attack? Like any entity, I believe we, as a country have made untold improvements, many of which have endured for a couple of centuries. We have also moved backward in many of them and only maintained or further improved on them through diligence.

I’m not sure what you are suggesting, but I was serious when I asked, “what do you think?” I want to celebrate the improvement for the minority of people in the US that will receive some help overcoming depression that is exacerbated by the twice a year time changes, but I wonder if it is more of a distraction from more pressing issues (not prescient, because we are not trying to guess at the future; we are seeing the real, current damage done by open borders and we have history to tell us how it will increase exponentially to the point of extinguishing/overthrowing the nation. The same can be said for our financial irresponsibility and tyranny.

I mentioned the things I believe are the constitutional responsibility of the legislative branch, because I was speaking about a small victory of one of the “Free State of Florida’s” members of the nation’s legislative branch. I support him, but believe he should be aiming much higher and demanding that his fellow members of the legislative branch begin to do their jobs for the entire nation.

I’m not sure the nation “living in the black” is a pink elephant. We, as responsible Americans are called to do so and most of us find a way to do so. We may take loans, but we pay them off. Why can’t the legislative branch be good stewards with our money as we are expected to be with our own money? Maybe it doesn’t appear to be a universally existential priority to deal with our addiction to living way beyond our means as a nation? I agree with a previous “highest-ranking military official” (charged with our security and protection against universally existential threats. Admiral Mike Mullen said, "Our national debt is our biggest national security threat."

Again, I do want to know what you think. I simply don’t want to misunderstand what you are saying. Please help me understand where you think my perspective is “pink elephants”. Thanks!

@Daveclark5
The "Pink Elephant" is an exercise sometimes used in lectures related to controlling ones own thoughts. A lecturer might begin the talk with the sentence:
"Try NOT to think about Pink Elephants"...later in the lecture he addresses his initial and opening sentence. He says to his listeners. How many of you still have "Pink Elephants" resident in your brains? All hands go up.

The point being that once a seed - a thought - is placed in the mind it is impossible to erase it from your psyche.

My comments to you above were in support of your posted question. My point being that it is not possible for you to NOT dwell on the things -to NOT think about or to NOT care about the things that rightly concern you. Those things are the proverbial seeded thoughts that reside in your brain. You cannot help but to think about them - to dwell on them.

So I am saying - go ahead and write and comment about those important things as you will. Just know that there are other more positive things around that you can address as well.
