Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

we are taxed to feed all those people who will not work for themselves. . i live in an area where the roads could be paved and fixed but the money is gone out . we should keep our money in our own country.

I really have no problem with most of those taxes. A lot of them are related to demographic shifts from rural to urban environments. As population density increases individual freedom produces more conflicts and the need for regulation. Regulation is expensive and inefficient. Social engineering through taxation and finds is probably better than conflicts being resolved by individuals even if government is by nature a blunt instrument.

That's not to say that we do not need to downsize government, require meritocracy in government employment and throw out most of the politicians. Taxes and regulations should be as minimal as possible. That said people that can govern their own behavior require less government. Social censure is often a less blunt and less destructive means of maintaining the peace and tranquility than government.
