I told him once that the word "gay" is such a misnomer because I never met a "gay" person who was not profoundly miserable, angry and depressed. The "liberals" embrace their discontent and wallow in misery and then try to foist it upon everyone else.

My theory is that negative emotions such as fear, hate and rage are food for the spiritual entities commonly referred to as demons. When a culture rejects God and His holiness they invite these demons to be their pets, and they have to be good stewards of their pets, so they feed them, all day, every day. The pets are so voracious that one person cannot generate enough negative emotion to satisfy their hunger, so the "pet parent" must force others to feed their pets too, since Purina has not yet marketed bagged demon chow.

And probably being as old as I, you seem to have forgotten the corollary; "stupid should hurt"
This is required since there is a possibility that the offender is not stupid, just ignorant. Ignorance can be fixed. But, there is no incentive unless there is some hurt to stimulate the necessary action.
So, you have an humanitarian responsibility to inflict hurt -- to help the ignorant. Now, as to hurting the stupid. Well, we are old. There are few fun things left. 
And it's contagious.
