Some Democrats want to fund the police now. All I can say is thank God for the second amendment. Just watch how fast and how copiously they all get on board with that if there were no second amendment. Notice how the "Defund police" narrative never caught on in other western democratic nations? Now why would that be???

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.The Democratic party, as a whole, was never in the "defund the police" camp. I mean the president and VP are staunchly pro-cop and always have been. It's only the more progressive members, like Bernie or AOC, who support the effort.
It would be just as accurate to say that Republicans now want to defund the police, since Biden is in power and police are cracking down on COVID violations and the trucker caravan and the insurrectionists were arrested.

Bernie, AOC and the squad seem to be driving the policy these days in the democrat party, do they not? I don't remember them getting a lot of back flash from Nancy or Chuck in congress.
I'm in line with those republicans whom you think want to defund the police. But for other reasons than the Democrats. You see, police forces seem to grow whether there is a high level of crime or not. The size of the police force should vary with the level of criminality which it never does. It just gets bigger. Cutting police forces has complications in ending careers and such. But governments, municipal or State or Federal fund them and they have Unions, or Associations to protect jobs. The question then is, should they be careers? Should governments be more responsible to the ever-changing socio/economic conditions. Fund or defund as needed. Currently, at least up to last year, it has been increase funding in every government budget.
As to the Democrat party, those in control have brought to being rather progressive or far to the left.
I would say even as far as a totally socialist state and on a global scale could be termed Communist in nature. The reason, at this point for any call to defund the police would be to allow rampant criminality in the face of already rising crime statistics which are, by the way, driven up by a lack of prosecutorial action on the part of the justice system. The police can arrest lawbreakers but if they are just let out the back door by the justice system it encourages more crime. But not to segue onto those problems, if the far left of the Democrat party are acting like communists their plan would be to create as much chaos in the society as possible. Therefore, the call to defund the police. When the general populace starts complaining vehemently about rampant crime then the polemics to infringe or even abolish the second amendment will start in earnest which if it is ever accomplished will call for increased strong-arming of the public and greater funding for policing.
Now why would that be?
