It is a sad reality that not enough government agents are held accountable for their crimes against the citizens, but it is nice to occasionally see they are. What bugs me about this case is that I have no doubt plenty of this corrupt cops buddies knew he did this, knew when they were asked to watch over someone stopped for a mere traffic violation he was about to plant evidence, and yet they went right along with his actions never reporting him, never arresting him for being in possession of substance it was illegal for him to be in the possession of. So the whole "it's just a few bad apple" justification flies right out the window. This bad apple corrupted numerous other apples which came in contact with him, and Lord only knows how far that corruption spread throughout that department, or any other he worked in. Yet they never do any follow up investigations on those officers who were present when he planted drugs on people. Would not be surprised if the same officer that "took care of" that woman while deputy liar planted evidence was often requested to assist in simple traffic stops by this corrupt cop.

I think officers of all types need some kind of qualified immunity to operate. Given some level of qualified immunity, an officer abusing his authority should be legally reamed hard. The officers knowing illegal activities are going on and ignore it should be legally reamed hard. Unfortunately, the fixes aren't easy and would be messy. We really have to wade through the mess though.
