Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.I have always seen profanity as little more than evidence of a lazy minded or uneducated person lacking the vocabulary to accurately convey his/her thoughts or lacking any semblance of self control.
It used to also be used occasionally to shock the hearers and put them on their heals. This latter use of profanity lost any of its former efficacy when the overuse of the most profane words numbed the ears of almost all hearers. Currently it is far more noteworthy and impressive to see/hear of somebody who never uses profanity.
When my son-in-law (40 years old) struck his thumb with a hammer so hard that the skin split open and started bleeding profusely, he not only held his tongue, he impressed all around by simply saying, “excuse me for a minute; I need to go get this cleaned up and put a bandaid on it.” When somebody mentioned how he never uttered a single foul word, he was quick to say, “cussing wouldn’t have improved the situation”.

Where there’s free speech there’s going to be profanity. Its use doesn’t strengthen the underlying argument and can be seen as a distraction. Or it can be seen as an intensifier. But there’s no doubt it relies on emotion rather than rationality.
In the case of this video, I’m betting a whole lot of people are responding with a “hell, yeah.” That just means they already agreed with the message and probably were not convinced by it.

Glad you brought this up. Many if not most Westerners cuss way too much. Maybe there's a tinge of arrogance involved in all that cussing. Could it be a symptom of the bigger problem of a moral free fall?
