That was a very good analysis of that interview. It was a preplanned bit of propaganda.
One point though - "Inflation is a monetary phenomenon." - Milton Friedman.
The price increases we are seeing currently are not due to inflation. It is much worse. But we will be seeing real inflation later compounding the current price increases that are occurring.
The current price increases are from policies that are suppressing the supply chains. California is doing its best to choke supply lines with trucking regulations, such as not allowing owner operators in the State, not allowing trucks to be older than 2010, a high emission standard that disqualifies trucks that can operate in other States but not California, the highest cost of fuel in the country, among other things. These policies put a chokehold on foreign imports, a big percentage of which come from China and is sitting on cargo ships anchored at the Long Beach harbor. A good reason to not close national manufacturing altogether and to always have a good supply of the essentials from local producers.
While cargo ships are waiting at the harbors on the west coast there is no shortage of asylum seekers at the southern borders. More than a million people have been added to the American population which means there is an unexpected demand on essentials like food which translates into higher costs, for locally produced goods.
We're in for tough times. I'm afraid.

I tend to agree, most of the “inflation” we're seeing now is being caused by policies designed to drive prices up. The real inflation caused by the Federal Reserve printing trillions of dollars in devalued money will come later. Tough times indeed but maybe that will wake more people up.
The only place where inflation does good is inside a tyre.
