It’s telling that the article blames Trump and let’s China completely off the hook. The fact is Meng was breaking the Iran sanctions through a fraudulent Huawei shell company, and she admitted lying about that. So the US was completely within the law to request her extradition from Canada as per our treaty.

The article offers unsubstantiated speculation as whether Trump had a hidden trade motive. Even if he did, it’s irrelevant. Meng and Huawei played dirty, and he called it. Under our existing agreements, Canada had to respond to the extradition request.

The bad guy here isn’t Trump. He didn’t take two innocent hostages and imprison them for three years. The villain here is China. First for using fraudulent means to break the Iran sanctions. Second for extorting Canada by taking hostages.

If Trump would DROP it, znd it mentioned some of these sanctions to do with Obama.

Canada should have told Trump to get her or she returns.
I'd bet he would not respond UNTIL Canada returned her.

What China did or didn't do doesn't seem to have phased Trump.
Keep the problem where it belonged between China and US.

I heard Meng was tricked into getting off the plane.

And unless we know, we can't fairly accuse.

The more you study the very wealthy, generally, the more things found swept.
This is why I opted out of that system long ago. Never regretted it.

You've read how there's 2 sets of rules all over the world, not just China.

@2FollowHim I get your points, and I’m not necessarily disagreeing. Maybe Trump had a hidden agenda, and perhaps there was trickery by the US. And Canada was definitely caught in the middle of a superpower showdown.

Regardless, Canada has a valid extradition treaty with the US and must consider their requests to extradite. Those provisions gave Meng the right to have the case heard in open court, and we followed the rules.

On China’s side, two hostages were snatched off the street and imprisoned with no due process.

My issue here is all the speculation about US “wrongdoing”, and assumptions about possible hidden motives. Only one of the three nations involved — according to fact — was acting outside the law. China.

@2FollowHim I checked out the source of the link you posted above, because it was so pro-Chinese and anti-American. No surprise the author is a university prof who did PR for the trade union movement.
I thought criticizing Washington, when Beijing was the one taking hostages was a strange position to take. However, the author’s woke leftist leanings explains it.

I think Trump and Biden played Canada. I learned that Trump was very close partners to Epstein for 17 years. Until 2004, a falling out, and the article said what happened. A dirty trick by Trump on Epstein on choice real estate.
But Trump did win, too obvious. Finally Sydney Powell may get 'Kraken.

@2FollowHim no, the author is a well educated journalist, so it’s doubtful he’d lie. His leftist spin however, often stretches the truth. My problem is viewing the US as the bad guy in a trade dispute, when the other side, China, is grabbing hostages, and not being held to account.
