Score another victory for the Chinese. Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou, held for two years by Canada on an extraction request from the Trump Justice Department, has returned to China. The Huawei CEO was wanted by American authorities for breaking international sanctions against Iran, and had been under house arrest in Vancouver.
The Chinese released two Canadian citizens they held hostage since 2018 after a New York Judge struck a deal that Beijing had been demanding.
Meng’s father, a top ranking member of the Red Army and the Communist Party, built Huawei with technology largely pirated from the Canadian firm Research in Motion, makers of the Blackberry.
