96 percent of U.S. doctors got the vaccines. The vaccines and policies implemented were designed to save the medical institutions. So it is unsurprising that most doctor's support those policies. Only people that don't support socialized medicine will be against those policies. Even in the U.S. with a private health care system Medicare and Medicaid make up 37 percent of health care spending and often pays more for services than private insurance. The pandemic illustrates just how weak the health care system is with two ICU beds per 10,000 people in the U.S. ICU beds being unprofitable in the U.S. and beyond the means of most single payer systems. Trump wanted to expand ICU capacity by building ventilators and lowing standards for staff while keeping the economy afloat. Trump also pushed for vaccines but the focus was on saving lives not bailing out or covering up the weaknesses in the health care system.

To illustrate the role public health care systems played in policy decisions consider that Britain had 5 ventilators per 100,000 people at the beginning of the pandemic while the U.S. had 33. Despite the propaganda from single payer countries about how costly the U.S. system is the pandemic made it impossible to hide that you get what you pay for. Most likely the propaganda continued by exaggerating deaths in the U.S. from Covid and hiding them in single payer systems following a long term trend in data distortion.

An example of distorted data is that the efficacy of the vaccines is exaggerated by the number of highly vulnerable people that died before the vaccines became available. Since the variants are killing healthier people death rates will creep back up but the policy makers are blaming the unvaccinated not the variants. It is true that the vaccinated are dying at a lower rate but it is likely that they are people taking greater precautions. We know from studies that masks for example aid in herd immunity by reducing viral load creating a kind of inoculation by live viruses.

I believe that the Scandinavians and Trump made the right call by relying on herd immunity. Where weaknesses in the health care systems were covered up there very well may have been fewer deaths but it is short sighted because no economy no health care system.

Socialists are incapable of understanding that economies save lives over the long run. They will point to places like Cuba and say look at how healthy they are. What they overlook is that the poor health in the U.S. is a result of abundance and decadence. The U.S. is fat and happy and it's killing us. There is only so much medicine can do for a population addicted to over eating, over consumption of alcohol and other drugs, that drives everywhere and gets little exercise, and that over consumes dangerous pharmaceuticals. Since most of this behavior is concentrated in the lower classes and welfare recipients putting everyone to work and giving the working class more opportunities would in the long run save more lives than expanding public funded health care.

The health care system is distorted by dependence on tax dollars and the response to the pandemic reflects that. The nanny state is literally killing people. Policies designed to hide this fact will be counterproductive over the long run.

I'm not a big fan of Trump. He is a blow hard and crude man. That said he isn't afraid to point out how the system is failing. That allows for corrections in everything from foreign policy to healthcare. The bottom line is those that feel they are doing well either politically, economically, socially or emotionally will resist common sense and a long term perspective. Build a better economy and health care will improve. The poor will get more exercise, consume fewer drugs, have fewer unwanted children. The middle-class will be under less stress improving their health and the rich will be even richer. Unfortunately humans do not think long term for the most part.
