Rebel News: Quebec police continue to target Hasidic community after Sabbath ends
I’ve been reporting on Montreal’s COVID curfews nearly every night since they started three months ago.
Most of my time has been spent in the Outremont neighbourhood, home to Montreal’s large Hasidic Jewish community. It also happens to be one of the most heavily targeted areas for curfew enforcement by police.
Last Saturday, the police ramped up their enforcement beyond what I’ve seen before.
I witnessed them specifically stop visibly Jewish people, refuse to accept their exemption papers, and dole out $1,550 fines to adults and $500 fines to minors who were out on the streets.
But it wasn’t just one or two rogue police officers harassing the locals. There were so many officers involved in this operation that you could have easily mistaken the scene for a mass shooting or bank robbery.

Health authorities are trying to claim that the Hasidics are a source of super-spread especially within their own communities.
In my mind though, these are the types of communities that will reach herd immunity sooner than the rest.
