DC was once an uninhabitable swamp and they drained it to build the Capitol. We need to make DC uninhabitable again. We need the swamp back. Flood the swamp! Pour water down the deep state rabbit hole and smoke the rabbits out. Drain the politicians, not the swamp.

Many presidents farmed after their presidency, such as Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe, Tyler, Polk, Lincoln, Grant, TRoosevelt, Truman, LJohnson, Eisenhower (had a farm on the Gettysburg battlefield), Nixon, Ford, Carter (peanuts), Reagan (ranch), Bush 41, Bush 43 (became a painter), Trump (Mar a Lago, far from DC).
Clinton didn't farm and instead built a cabal called the Clinton Foundation.
The Founding Farmers should have included a clause in the constitution: Retired presidents must farm.

Make politicians live the same way they did in 1776. Make them live like the Amish. Force them to use Franklin stoves.
No perks for politicians. They should live like monks.

Who's going to do the job then? Are you going to subject yourself to being loathed by at least half the country because of your policies AND live an Amish lifestyle?

Furthermore, in addition to making politicians live like Amish, I think they shouldn't have salaries. In fact, they should pay to have office.
The traditional way is for politicians to spend campaign money on advertisements, and then the money goes to advertisement executives and broadcast media executives. What a waste of money. Make the politicians give the money directly to the public treasury. Make them bid for the office.
They used to abandon D.C. from late Spring until mid-to-late September. The UK diplomatic corps labelled D.C. as a 'subtropical' hardship assignment. And then air conditioning became common.
I say we pass a law outlawing air conditioning in all government buildings in D.C. Then it'll go back to being a subtropical hardship assignment. People will abandon it again. Summers will go back to being about baseball and picnics.
I haven't the foggiest idea what to do about the other eight months...

Demand that DC politicians go green. No heat in winter.
@jaymaron I could support the idea that the ones who push crazy climate alarmism should have zero access to power that is generated or backed up by fossil fuels... and no nuclear if they publicly oppose that, too. And definitely no green energy subsidies - make them pay their own way and demonstrate what it's like to live without burning fossil fuels.
Pouring water down the hole would eliminate the smoke. Or was that just a case of mixed metaphors?

Americans didn't rush to establish a constitution. American won the Revolutionary war in 1781 and they waited until 1788 to establish a federal government. In the meantime things stayed civilized. States took care of business and states cooperate with each other.
The Revolutionary War was fought without need of a federal government. All they had was a congress of state representatives.
That's going to happen. I strongly believe that people who'll still be around in 2 or 3 decades will see it happen. But that will be after a global slug fest.
