the stupidity and gutt reactions of people are just astounding. im not happy people are dead but do people really not get Bryant was trying to STAB someone?!?! what would you have liked the cop to have done differently? what would the reaction have been if the girl she was attacking had died? and then apparently Toldeo is supposed to be an example of how complying can still get you killed. uhm i read even the most biased accounts of the situation and no where in the altercation with police was he instructed to turn around. Yes, he froze. Yes, he dropped his weapon. Yes, he raised his hands. but at that point you don’t turn to face the officer. the officer then approaches, gun still drawn, and the. instructs you to place your hands behind your back while you are cuffed and detained. until that point as someone who ran while wielding a deadly weapon you are treated as hostile and a threat until you are under control. until that point officers assume the worst because they have their lives and others lives to consider. your behavior has shown disregard for others’ lives so while you don’t deserve to die you have put yourself in a situation where your life matters far less than those of innocent bystanders you could harm in the event officers do not control the situation and you moving when told not to is taken as a challenge to their authority and as a possible attempt to flee and/or retaliate and harm others. officers don’t know what’s in front of you and what else you could be concealing.
