Would you rather do something yourself or have government do it? Haha government charges. Government taxes. Government is notoriously inefficient, and there is no such thing as market forces with government. Government has a monopoly on government.

If something has to be done by government, would you rather it be done by your state government or by the federal government?

If there is a state where the people want more fed, that means the state isn't carrying its weight and the people want to poach the wealth of other states.

During the American Revolution, the Continental Congress took care of business just fine without needing a president. America was a League of States, with each state having wide autonomy. One of the driving forces behind forming a Congress was the matter of the bullying British. The reason for the Articles of Confederation was to put on a unified front to negotiate an alliance with France.

Why was Washington chosen as commander? Because Washington is Virginian and Virginia is big. The Continental Congress was not a democracy of states. It was an ante-ocracy of states. The more ante a state brought to the continental table, the more influence it had.

When the Persian invaded Greece, the Greek city-states put aside their differences and formed a harmonious league. Each city-state had spent a decade in advance building warships. The league chose Themistocles of Athens as commander. Why Themistocles? Because Athens contributed the most warships. Greece fought harmoniously under Themistocles' command.

If red states secede, they should be wary of forming a new federal government. Keep it as a league. Let there be competition between governments. Let the states with the wisest governments prosper.

Back in the day, ambassadors mattered. It took 2 weeks for letters to cross the
Atlantic. Franklin was a celebrity in Europe from his long career as a writer,
inventor, and social catalyst. As Ambassador to France, he coaxed France
into joining America in the war. The MVP of the Revolutionary War was Franklin.
