When you try to analyze typical arguments from the left, I think they fall into several distinct categories:
Stupidity—Socialism would work fine if it was properly implemented.
Misguided intentions— Don’t you think we have an obligation to do something about inequality?
Resentment—There’s plenty of money in this country; it’s just in the wrong hands.
Low-information bubble—I’ve never heard that from Rachel Maddow.
Power—you shouldn’t be allowed / should be forced to do that.
What unites all these underlying motivators is the notable absence of logic. Objective truth, and it’s foundation, facts, plays no role in their conclusions. This can certainly look like a gaggle of lies, but, except for the the lust for power, it’s possible the rest don’t think they are lying about why they think what they think.
That’s what happens when feelings supersede facts in ones world view. You end up believing whatever makes you feel better about yourself, and at the same time makes you feel morally and ethically superior to those who oppose you.

I agree but, I wouldn't say that to them if you want to continue a dialog as it is a harsh thing to hear and it makes defense mechanisms fly up so fast it would make your head spin. When that happens, that's the moment they stop listening

Where is this fabled dialogue of which you speak. I fear the voices of calm, reasoned debate are all in your head, because none of them are coming from the left.
Ii post this every chance I get. Perhaps some are tired of seeing it. Quite frankly, it makes me sick to my stomach. But it describes the general MO of the left when “engaging in a dialogue,” as you put it.
• never debate issues
• ridicule opposing ideas
• insult and smear those who hold them.
Every word out of a leftist’s mouth is an act of cheap intellectual cowardice, except for those times when they purposefully lie.
It all kinda is directed by utopian ideals, from my opinion. Beyond socialism. Beyond communism.
The shimmering palaces of the mind. The ideals of the ideal. Everyone upwardly mobile in harmonic unison as equals.
But how many in the USA, are willing to expatriate to Nigeria India vietnam mexico or China and build these communities from the ground up, abandoning cars, internet, health care access, and upward mobility.
Corporations actually do much of this for these nations, while many choose to expatriate to countries that already serve those things which refused to be abandoned....
People come to America for opportunities that their homes do not have... Americans are not generally willing to rush to countries and help improve quality of life elsewhere, a few missionaries,and green peacers excluded.
Maybe a vacation to romanticize dereliction. Mostly time spent on cruises and resorts, designed for catering and trinkets after a few hours of siteseeing.
"Got the tee shirt" types projecting their travels onto all the perceived problems around us.some valid, some imaginary, some regional. Step out of an urban area and much of the bullet points disappear.

Maybe it is a lot simpler, THEY are Stupid and you can not fix STUPID!!!
There is plenty of evidence in this world, for the last 100 plus years, that proves , no matter how you do it, or who does it Socialism/Communism only makes the rich richer and the poor poorer!!!!!!
