Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.The right to repair actually is crucial to the future. Environmentalists in particular should be fully on board with this concept in order to reduce waste by simply buying a new product and tossing the now non-working product.
Case in hand, my son purchased all new appliances about 5 years ago. Recently the washing machine broke down and he (engineer) did figure out it was the circuit board that needed to be replaced. The replacement board ended up costing 1/2 the original washer purchase, and there was a 2 month waiting period to fulfill his order for the part. THAT is ludicrous and, like anyone else under those circumstances, he ended up having the replace the washing machine. Really environmentally sound policies on behalf of these companies right?

I agree, right to repair is really really important.
Yup, typically hypocrisy, where Apple virtue signals equality and environmentalism and than tries to squeeze last drop of sweat shop labor in China, and prevent anyone who repairing their products, so they have to buy new ones. Classic, all these technocrats are too powerful to care about humanity, and they won't care unlit their own life or livelihood is under threat. You can't appeal to the morals of the people who spend a lifetime avoiding it. I agree , right to repair is critical because its a whole human thing. Mass scale industry and disposable products are not human affair they are something else. Tim Cook, never even walked trough his own factories, so how can he be expected to be anything but a disgusting technocrat. He goes out of his way to distance himself from people he is exploiting.
@Krunoslav We seriously have to start holding virtue signalling corporations to account for all their hypocracy. Words are damn cheap when no one looks under their skirts to check all their practices. BLM support rings very hollow when you are using slave labor in other countries to produce your throw away products.
The other issue that needs to be addressed is the fact that when boomers die out the following generations need to develop the skills necessary in order to be able to repair items.
