THE WRAP

Kamala Harris was in charge, in command of her facts, she was out for blood and she scored big points.

For the first two minutes.

Then, her smug smile started to give her away: she’s going to be president. Everyone tells her so. Tonight was just a formality. She could scarcely see the reason to be there.

Pence let her off the hook with the virus, though he scored a heavy hit when he accused Biden of plagiarizing Trump’s plan.

She thought she was scoring points by invoking the hit piece from The Atlantic; bringing up the Charlottesville “fine people” hoax; and trying to say that Trump ruined the economy and caused the “recession.” I don’t know if she actually believes what she said or if she just thinks the people are so low-information that they won’t know the truth. But even then, her chronic condescension and her propensity to laugh as if to say, “Hold my beer,” even when she had nothing but hot air to offer, and her generally miserable personality, all of which explains why she had to drop out of the primary race before a single vote was cast, gave Pence a host of unforced errors.

Pence grew stronger as Harris faded. He scored solidly on the economy and China. He pinned her to the wall on the question of packing the court (and gave Harris the opportunity to pull up her obviously rehearsed history lesson that was not only off topic, it displayed most of her unlikable qualities all at once.) He refuted her big hits as easily as swatting away the fly who landed in his hair for a couple of minutes.

But he was strongest at the end when asked the obviously loaded question; “If Joe Biden wins and Trump won’t leave office, what will you do?” Harris spouted pablum. Pence pointed out that the Democrats never accepted the outcome of the last election and Hillary Clinton advised Joe to concede under no circumstances. Then he ran through the litany of hoax investigations, accusations and the impeachment. He brought up Spygate. He mentioned Joe’s central role in the plotting.

Then they got a question from a student about the divisive nature of our politics, and how they could improve it. Harris wasted her answer blaming Trump. Pence, on the other hand, rose above the question, invoking the American tradition of vigorous debate, after which we come together as Americans.

The subtext for the evening was that Pence is a decent man, honorable and dignified. Harris is more unlikable than Hillary and showed us why.

No K.O., but the convincing nod to Pence on points.

This right here was my favorite part of the debate. Pence really did stand above Harris on this. He even answered first and Harris still chose the gloom and doom response. Pence was very good in this debate.

Good wrap up! Agree completely. Thanks, Edgework!

You guys really need to stop with the radical conspiracy that Harris is going to be installed as the president. It's Biden - Harris, not the other way around, no matter how much you want to spin that narrative. You just keep making yourselves look like fools.

The debate was awful. No one really answered a question, there were plenty of mistruths on both sides, and the moderator was unable to stop anyone from veering off topic or going over their time. However, Pence was definitely worse when it came to interrupting - he went way over his time at one point, as well as talked through all of Harris' time during one of her questions, and then she was not given equal time back.

Since I am not enraged by clear bias like you people, I will admit Harris failed on many fronts. She should have hammered him more about the virus response and how they have spectacularly failed - they were trying to be respectful because Trump gave himself the virus, and I definitely don't think it was the time for kid-gloves. She should have brought up Trump "falling in love" with Kim Jong-un and taking Putin's word over his own intelligence when she was on the topic of selling out America. When discussing Trump's attacks on military, she should have also brought up Trump's attack on Biden's son during the last debate. She should have called out Trump's child-tantrum performance at the last debate. But of course she also dropped the ball in avoiding the packed court question, which Biden did as well, and which can definitely hurt them - though she should have mentioned how McConnell and the Republicans stole Obama's pick out from under him.

Neither of them could properly answer the question about old-as-fuck presidents where the VP might have to assume power. I wonder how people can justify their attacks on Biden's health and this theory that Harris will be the real president, when Pence completely avoided going anywhere near a real answer about it. It's probably because you all know that Biden has the integrity and humility to admit if he had an actual health issue and had to transfer power, whereas Trump has Jong-un levels of god-complex and could never admit he was anything less than perfect and would be on his deathbed refusing to give up his power.

Of course Pence also completely avoided the question of peaceful transfer of power. It was like he was reading directly from a script, talking about how they will win and it is rigged if they don't, and doubled-down on Trump refusing to accept the results and peacefully transitioning. So what if Hillary said Biden should never concede? No one gives a shit about Hillary, which is why she lost the election to the steaming pile of dogshit that is Trump. She is trying to stay relevant with controversial statements. It has nothing to do with the current election. Trump, who is actually in the election, is refusing to accept the results if he loses, which is the issue at hand - not what some washed up loser has to say.

It is a bold-faced lie to say the Democrats never accepted the results of Trump's election. If that were true, Obama would have tried to hold onto power and refused to leave, as Trump is trying to do now. So some people are mean to Trump, boo hoo, and they are conducting investigations into his extremely obvious flagrant corruption. Do you forget the 8 years of absolute vile thrown at Obama from the Republicans? Where McConnell didn't care about the betterment of America or fixing the economy or anything decent, but rather flat out stated "the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president." - yeah, that is so respectful. If you think it was fair to impeach Clinton for getting a BJ in office, then it is fair to impeach Trump for refusing aid to a foreign ally unless they committed to attacking his political rival. You may think they were hoax or sham investigations, but maybe if Trump didn't block all subpoenas, seal all records, and the Republicans didn't block witnesses and refuse to actually have a hearing - we'd actually get to the truth of the matter rather than letting Trump and his "best people" continually destroy this country for personal gain.

Finally, the Charlottesville issue is not a hoax. It is not a "hit piece" from The Atlantic. The video is there for all to see. He said there were "very fine people" on both sides. There were neo-Nazis marching in the street chanting "Jews will not replace us" and one killed a woman in a hit-and-run. When asked about this, Trump basically ignored it and said well people didn't put themselves down as Nazis they just didn't want a Confederate monument replaced, and took the time to condemn the counter-protesters. Trump blamed the counter-protesters for starting violence, even though all evidence shows the Nazis were the ones being violent. Yes, at one point he did say "and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally" but then went back to making a case for the "Jews will not replace out" crowd being innocent protesters. That was not the time to pussy-foot around the issue and try to please everyone and be civil, it was the time to unabashedly condemn white supremacists with no other footnotes. Of course, as with everything else Trump thinks about himself, he claimed he answered the question "perfectly". When asked about why it took 48 hours to make a statement condemning the neo-Nazis, Trump said "before I make a statement, I need the facts. So I don't want to rush into a statement" which is convenient when the issue deals with white supremacists, but when it is against left-wing groups he has no problem rushing to Twitter or the podium to spew out hatred before any facts have actually come out. I wonder why he has yet to apologize for running an ad asking for the death penalty on the Central Park 5, who were exonerated.

“You people...”
Who do you think you are? Ross Perot?

@Edgework that's your only response?

@JacksonNought to what your babal....he already called it as he seen it! [gab.com]
[thegatewaypundit.com]

Wow - that's quite an essay... full of Twitter talking points that have all been debunked many times before.

I know you have been presented with facts about these things, but they just don't seem to be able to penetrate your echo chamber and escape the clutches of your state-of-the-art MiniTrue Information Filter. I don't see why another attempt would do the trick...

@DaveO276 feel free to point out the facts that refute my statements. Until then you're just talking out of your ass.

@JacksonNought

  1. Kamala Harris has referred to a "Harris administration together with Joe Biden" and Joe, himself, has referred to a Harris-Biden administration. Nancy Pelosi has also pulled together a panel to discuss the 25th amendment, which she has no hope of successfully using against Trump under the current or any likely future circumstances. I think the most likely reason for this is to prepare to transfer the presidency from Biden to Harris.

  2. Would you like to elaborate on what you mean when you say the Trump administration "spectacularly failed" in the virus response?

  3. It was a very good thing that Mike went off topic all those times that he otherwise would not have been given an opportunity to correct Kamala's lies.

  4. I'm glad Trump has tried a different North Korea strategy. Sure, we're still not where we would like to be, but I do think there has been an improvement on what he inherited from past administrations.

  5. Trump taking Putin's word over his own intelligence agencies? You mean the intelligence agencies that conspired with Hillary Clinton to pull together an international conspiracy to illegally rig, then (when that didn't work) undo the 2016 election?

  6. Trump's attacks on the military? Eye witnesses (including John Bolton - no fan of Trump) have publicly denied those attacks occurred. Who claims Trump said those things? Anonymous sources (i.e. "journalists" made it all up).

  7. Trump's "child tantrum" performance at the last debate? You mean Trump's brave fight against TWO partisan hacks who teamed up against him - and one of them was supposed to be the "impartial" moderator? Remember, too, Biden interrupted first and set the precedent - he should have known he couldn't win by those rules!

  8. Kamala "dropped the ball" on the court-packing question, you say? What should she have said? Should she have said they would not pack the court, and lose the Democrat base, or should she have said they would pack the court and lose everyone else? I actually have another answer I think I would have given if I were in her place, but I am interested to find out what you think.

  9. McConnell and the Republicans did not "steal" Obama's SCOTUS pick. Obama did not have enough allies in the senate in order to have his pick confirmed. That is how the process works, and elections (including congressional elections) have consequences.

  10. I'm having trouble finding a clip to refresh my memory on exactly what happened with the question of the VP assuming the presidency if the president was unable to continue. Seeing you expressed your dissatisfaction with the answers from both participants, I will assume this is not so important for me to comment on. In terms of Joe having the integrity and humility to admit if he had major health problems, I'm not so sure about that, especially seeing he's now practically the Democrats' only chance to avoid four more years of Donald Trump - and probably none of them have ever been more desperate for anything in their lives!

  11. Peaceful transfer of power? I think Pence answered that perfectly. The Democrats still haven't truly conceded the 2016 election, and they still pedal the repeatedly debunked Russia hoax. You speak of Trump blocking subpoenas and sealing records. He had to defend himself against a powerful, unelected bureaucracy hell-bent on framing and illegally removing him, and we are only now beginning to see the proof of that with the investigations and declassifying that has been occurring.

  12. Bill Clinton was impeached and convicted on perjury and obstruction of justice - actual crimes. Donald Trump was impeached AND ACQUITTED on obstruction of congress and abuse of power (neither of which are crimes).

  13. At Charlottesville, Trump "condemned totally" the neo-Nazis and white supremacists - end of story. He has done the exact same thing on multiple occasions. What is wrong with the idea that there are some fine people on both sides of a political disagreement over historical monuments? Or are we only allowed to recognize fine people on the left?

Have I missed anything?

Pence won he had Harris spewing hate and garbage like MSM, with misrepresentations, innuendos and bold faced self aggrandizement.
