When woke causes are more important than silly notions like "story" or "artistic license" it really looses all meaning. Even movies that don't pander to the woke may still not even be my taste (based on personal preference, which is a concept collectivist minds can't grasp).
I found it somewhat amusing that so many woke disliked the new Joker. I didn't like it as far as a part of the DC universe type way, but still enjoyed it for the most part as a stand alone type film. (Joker has an identity, Joker has a bizarre relation to Bruce Wayne's father, etc etc) Some of the "toxic masculinity" and other nonsensical reviews were pretty freaking funny.
So, it's back to rewatching my favorite Mel Brooks, and Monty Python collections until the next "one" new movie comes out that suits my taste. Call me crazy, but I prefer an escape from reality rather than an agenda shoved down my throat.

@TheMiddleWay Oh I still enjoyed Joker, as a stand alone. And, no I was definitly not expecting some "blockbuster" type, predictable format lol (Although, admittedly, there is a certain amount of cheesiness and fun in some of the more family oriented comic book adaptations, like I really loved Aquaman lol). I loved the dark side of the movie. I find DC comics to often times way darker than Marvel.
I just didn't like the additional backstory, like a name, an odd connection to the Wayne's through his mom, as well as the confusing age gap between him and Bruce. It felt like those parts were a last minute add in to make me reminded that this is a "Batman" movie, rather than an organic flow if the story. If that makes sense. I would have preferred a complete exclusion of those parts.
One of my favorite dark comics in the Batman universe was the graphic novel "Asylum". The "in your head" duality between Joker and Batman was an intersting almost symbiotic relationship. They did hint at Bruce maybe being Jokers new aim if they continue the movies. I just didn't like that it now is focused on his father first. I realize these are fairly petty complaints. I do tend to be more critical of comic movies in general.
