As already stated, most states already have laws in place for teenagers here in the US. Lowering the age limit would include children and that's going to far. Pedophilia is not acceptable! I'm not for teens marrying either, but do allow that some older teens are ready for it depending upon the teen.

@B1967 Some states have that on the books, but anyone who lets a 12 year old get married is selling their child to a pedophile in my opinion. Most states the age is older than 12, I do believe. Like I said, I'm not for teens getting married except under certain conditions - they are older, say 16/17, they are mature enough to handle getting married, and that they do it with full support from both their families. I know that is an ideal, but if we don't have ideals, then we have nothing to strive for.

@B1967 Yes. Children should not be married. Full Stop. Older teens, that is a questionable and case by case issue. Children on the other hand are not old enough to be in an adult relationship. That's why they are children, rather than short adults.
In any case, the laws should be changed to be a higher age, not a lower one. A child who is under 12/13 hasn't even hit puberty yet.
