BLACK LIVES MATTER ISSUES ITS DEMANDS
Racial extortion is nothing new. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton made fortunes from it in the 90s, funds that tended to vanish into dubious non-profit organizations that most often financed their luxurious lifestyles. A 2001 article in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel explained:
“The Rev. Jackson's method is supremely clever: When corporations are most vulnerable -- seeking federal approval for mergers, or battling charges of racial discrimination -- he will insert himself in the picture, threatening boycotts and making public accusations of racism unless the companies send substantial contributions to the Citizenship Education Fund, or award lucrative contracts to Jackson friends and associates.”
Al Sharpton used similar techniques, minus the patina of respectability accorded Jackson. He’d simply show up with a mob and a megaphone and rant about “white interlopers,” in black neighborhoods and get them burned to the ground. In at least one occasion, someone died as a result. When the Mafia does it, it’s called extortion and people go to jail. Jackson and Sharpton are “activists,” and no one touched them. But if you want to know where corporate America learned yo go woke, look no further.
Now the torch has been passed to a new generation, and the fires it has ignited across America make Sharpton’s efforts look like the small change he’s always been.
Black Lives Matter has presented a restaurant owner in Louisville, Ky with a bill. In addition to the usual litany of complaints and grievances comes very specific quotas assigned to anyone trying to do business in the city. Someone came up with the magic 23% in deference to BIPOC (black and indigenous persons of color. Hispanics... suck wind). 23% staffing; 23% purchasing from BIPOC owned businesses. Of course, there’s a rating code, with penalties for businesses that “fail to create a safe space for black inclusion.”
Penalties include protests, boycotts, negative social media blasts, sit/ins, and a host of stock Marxist check points.
Who wants to bet that the city government will surrender without firing a shot? And that they will soon implement the entire agenda citywide?
