Agreed, PC has gone too far these days. Though in my view "Redskins" is one of the few remaining team names that could reasonably be considered derogatory. Indians, Chiefs, Braves, Blackhawks -- not so much. My alma mater was force to change its name from "Fighting Sioux" because ONE band of the state's Lakota refused to sign on to it. This for a place with the nation's pre-eminent program in Native American Medicaine. (My martial arts sensei was native BTW.)

Racial, perhaps, but not Bigoted. Sports teams are named after Native Tribes because they were fierce fighters and arguably our most formidable enemy in forming this country. It is out of that respect that such teams, and other such groups are named.
