The week before they published that article, they published an article claiming a new Ice Age was coming. That may not have been the beginning of creating alternative "science" by publication, but it surely was a significant leap in that direction.
The GAO did a study in the 90s that showed 27% of the Internet is accurate. I think it is worse today. You can literally find alchemy. We are in an equivalent to the Dark Ages, because ANYTHING is now believable by anyone. Now "Climate Change," and an invisible and unverifiable virus are changing our World, whether or not they are true. (They aren't).

The great scientific break through came when England broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and scientist for the first time could do research without fear of church interference.
This led to England’s golden age modern world we have today.
It was exactly ignoring religion in the first place and only accepting the scientific method that we finally got out of the dark ages.

Other ways of knowing what, exactly? Scientific facts? Are we going to replace scientific method with feelings, intuition, and popular opinion? Are we going to replace laboratories with sweat-lodges, and research with jenkem sniffing sessions?
