WHY WON’T HE DO SOMETHING?

Everyone on the right, from Tucker to your local trucker, wants to know: why is Trump sitting on his ass, signing executive orders, acting like everything is normal? Doesn’t he watch the news? We’re falling apart! He has to do something about this—“This,” being the newly minted Protectorate of Crapistan located in the heart of what used to be Seattle. Why on earth would he permit this outrage to continue?

Why not? Inslee and Durkan, the west coast’s answer to the Cuomo/DeBlasio clown show, would love nothing more than for Trump to send in the 101st Airborne. That would free them of responsibility and pop the big zit on the face of the left’s agenda. Now it would be Trump’s problem. With any luck, someone would go all Kent State on the vagrants and Creepy Joe could ride pictures of bloody bodies in the streets into the White House (and right out the back door, just as soon as they get the 25th amendment cranked up.)

They’d love Trump to treat this like a shooting war. He might yet. There’s always the chance that he’ll get fed up with the whole mess and start cracking skulls. But probably not. For five years the left has come at him by trying to control perception, otherwise known as propaganda, otherwise known as lies. And for five years, Trump has beaten back every assault precisely by not rising to the bait. He’s Tweeted; he’s fumed; he’s ranted and raged; it wouldn’t surprise me if there were a few patched holes in the White House walls and doors. But where it counts, he’s let them play their game by their rules, and lose by those rules. Right now the score is roughly seventy-thousand to nothing.

That’s because the overreach they keep trying to goad him into splashes back in their faces every time, and it’s the left’s overreach that they have to explain. In the process, they are essentially writing his campaign marketing strategy for him. The combination of fire in the streets, scumbags holed up behind Durkan’s concrete barriers and Biden trying to remember his lines while he soils his pants will trump all their cheap propaganda.

Shortly after Trump won in 2016, Steve Bannon met with the New York Times editorial staff and told them it was time for them to sit down, shut up, and listen. “You still have no idea why Donald Trump is President.” If anyone in that meeting had the insight to recognize the truth of Bannon’s words, and maybe make an effort to try to pull them back from their headlong race for the abyss, clearly they failed.

The left still doesn’t listen to or understand the country. But Trump does. And he knows that the greater portion is made up of people who don’t scream or protest, or throw bricks. They’re silent, but they’re pissed. They listen to the lies spewed 24/7 about out culture, our history and our president, but they are not swayed. They hear he’s a fascist, but see only fascists aligned against him. They hear he’s a liar but remember five years of accusations that were themselves intentional lies. They hear he’s a racist but see only the first president who’s delivered solid results for minority communities everywhere. They hear he wants to destroy The Constitution, but recall a bogus impeachment based on nothing constitutional. They hear he wants to divide us, but remember Nancy Pelosi tearing up his State of the Union address.

They are not stupid. They aren’t interested in revolution. Mostly, they’d like to be left alone. But now, they want revenge.
