So, if I have it right, just learned that TheFederalist and ZeroHedge came under the thumb of Google. Which is to say that the Federalist had to cut a deal for an undetermined time, agreeing NOT to publish feedback from readers.
What's our game plan, folks? How is this site being monetized? When do we start ponying up for the privilege of communicating? Thoughts?

I suspect that down the road, we'll have the opportunity to contribute. No labor of love goes unpunished forever.
My understanding is that THIS site is funded by a charitable foundation with which Admin is associated. I personally have no great objection to paying for the privilege of communicating. I do it with telephone service and email. I've only been here about six or seven weeks but I've gotten no ads and no telemarketing calls or solicitous emails from Slug so even if I had to pay a little it would be better than phone or email for communicating. On free sites like facebook, twitter and instagram etc. the user is the product sold. The advertisers are the customers.

Yes. FB's users are its product. I only use it to screen for tenants, who will tell the world things they'd never put on a rental app. Amazing.
