The claim is that the protesters are protesting systemic racism. I think they are protesting their own misery and that in the absence of systemic racism they would be just as miserable. We are not evolved to be happy but rather to live fast and die young. For some people civilization just extends the misery.
We really do have a miserable education system.

@WilyRickWiles Resorting to that tactic just identifies you as the one with fascist tendencies. We're reached the point that the worst fascists in our country are calling themselves anti-fascists. Their strategy of using name-calling, cancel culture, and violence to suppress any opinion that they don't like is a typical fascist strategy. If the Germans had realized the nature of those people in the 1930's and fought them, we would applaud the Germans. The problem is that the two groups fighting for control of Germany were labeled as "fascists" and "communists," but both were morally the same. The deaths inflicted by the communists have been just as brutal and systematic as those inflicted by the Nazis.

Barr ordered the clearing that occurred 20 minutes before curfew. Not a good look. A worthy political shot to place Trump's name in people's minds regarding the riots that have nothing to do with Trump.

This has happened before. In 1969 a hundred thousand antiwar protestors demonstrated on the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall. Troops from the 82nd Airborne were staged in the basement complex of the White House. I think they were stationed at the Pentagon and other sites as well.
Late that night, President Nixon went to the Lincoln Memorial and conversed with the the demonstrators there. It was an impulsive, even quixotic move and it went surprisingly well. Not remembered by many.
