In regards to your latest video, I find it really interesting because I see people, more and more, using the word "lesbian" very loosely to "identify" themselves, basing it on an ideal of what they think a lesbian IS, rather than using it to illustrate their genuine sexual orientation. If you say "I like girls better but I still like to sleep with boys sometimes" - you're not a lesbian. It bugs me because the difference between lesbians and other queer women is like the difference between scotch and whiskey. All scotch is whiskey - not all whiskey is scotch. All lesbians are queer women - not all queer women are lesbians. A lesbian is a homosexual woman - it's not a complicated definition. And "lesbian" has always been an important word, so I find it strange that for the younger generation, it's starting to lose its meaning.

That's because political correctness has gone stark raving mad. In some circles calling someone lesbian or homosexual is frowned upon!

In queer circles?

There are only two words to describe a person. Normal or freak.

Are talking about people who are innately gay versus people who choose to call themselves gay, or are you implying that "if you're queer, you're a freak"? If it's the latter, you should find somewhere else to troll around, my dude.

@alexlgarzon Freaks tend to invent and use meaningless words to regurgitate their delluded hollow miserable lives. So an excellent litmus test to determine how much of a freak one personis, just need to go back and check their vocabulary. Search specifically for words that even amongst the freaks there's no real concession as what hell they even mean

ACCURATE and i can't stand it. i personally don't even like the term queer as it doesnt have a tight enough meaning for me, but if someone else wants to call themselves that, of course that's ok.

I completely agree with you about the word "queer". In the olden days (less than a decade ago), "queer" was literally just another word for "gay". It's now an umbrella term to describe anybody who doesn't identify as straight. Which isn't a bad thing at all, but I feel like the way a lot of people use the word "queer", it almost negates the meanings behind some of the other labels, and I honestly hate that.

@alexlgarzon Couldn't agree more. I don't mind the word queer if someone wants to use that word to describe that they aren't straight but don't want to be specific about exactly what that means. Someone who is still figuring out what they are, IE: Someone who doesn't quite know whether they are gay or bisexual yet) could very well use that word as a placeholder until they find out what they are. Someone could also use that term if they just don't feel like telling you exactly what their sexuality is, for an example if they just don't think it's any of your bussiness.

Other than that I don't really get why anyone would use the term queer, especially not to define themselves. Wasn't the word queer literally used as a slur before?

@Kristin9 yes - queer can still be used as a slur, basically in the same vein as "faggot". But the LGBTQ literally took the term back, and it's taken a life of it's own! Even outside of the community, it's got a more positive and diverse connotation and meaning.

I don't mind being called queer, but I prefer denoting my actual sexuality instead (bisexual). Personally, I say embrace the label that best describes you, and if "queer" is the label that resonates most, let your queer self shine ❤
