Canceling Lesbos: The State of Lesbian Online Communities
The former owner of the subreddit r/TrueLesbians before it was banned in a recent banwave on reddit speaks in interview with Benjamin A. Boyce about the canceling of female only spaces and lesbian only spaces.
I personally do not agree with all of it, but it's overall a good video and dammit awareness needs to be made.
should i make a video about this all
I haven't watched the video yet but I am familiar with the various lesbian communities on Reddit. r/TrueLesbians had a great concept behind their subreddit and I enjoyed their casual text discussion posts. But some (not all) of their members could also get quite hateful at times. It was one of the few places cis lesbians could vent so some of the topics got more into being anti-trans than being pro-lesbian. Lot of pent up frustration I think, and users would have to make two different reddit accounts to post on TL so they wouldn't get banned from other subs.
Edit: forgot to say I still don't think they should have been banned. If there were enough problems with the community to cause a ban the reddit Admins should have first reached out to the TL mod team to figure out how to improve
