I've heard of MAPs and I've even seen MAP-centic threads across social media - oh my stars and yikes on bikes.
Being "minor-attracted" (way to make pedophilia sound less severe) isn't an orientation - it's a pathology and a paraphilia. I can't believe that we're a quarter of the way through the 21st century, and we're having to argue that being attracted to a child/adolescent isn't the same thing as being same-sex attracted.
I'm not into kink shaming, but being attracted to young people under the age of 17, as an adult, is NOT a kink. If that's genuinely something you feel, then that's something you have to come to terms with, be aware of, and keep yourself in check about. If you're lucky, that's all you have to do.
On the other hand, a sex-positive friend of mine told me something I've never forgotten: If your kinks involve children, animals or corpses, those aren't fetishes - those are felonies.
I consider myself pretty stinking open-minded, but I can't bring myself to equate a pathological paraphilia with a legit orientation.

Whether you like it or not, pedophilia is in fact a sexual orientation, regardless of whether or not it's legal or moral. As such, there is no treatment, medication or therapy available for it. Anyone who claims to have been cured are no different than people who have undergone conversion therapy. Just because a topic is controversial or offensive doesn't make it any less valid as a sexual orientation.
